By Popular Demand...

So far my first craft fair has been a great success! Tomorrow is the last day, so head on over to the "Holy Cow it Moos Be Harvest" boutique in Pleasant Grove if you haven't been yet. And by popular demand I made a black version.

Parade of Birthday Boards

I'm dropping these off at "Holy Cow it Moos be Harvest" tonight! To be honest, since this is the first craft show/craft fair I've ever been to I'm a little nervous/anxious/scared. BUT I'm also glad to have the opportunity. And since I have these boards out the door, I can focus on a few other things.

Tropical Skittles Birthday Board

Raspberries & Cream Birthday Board

Skittles Birthday Board

Sage & Lemon Birthday Board

Chocolate & Vanilla Birthday Board

*Notice how my names for the boards tend to be about food. Those are the names that came most easily to my mind. I guess I think about colors in terms of food. Are there any colors in particular that you associate with food?

"Holy Cow it Moos Be Harvest" Boutique

Look for Birthday Boards from Wooden Parlor at this week's "Holy Cow it Moos Be Harvest" Boutique, Sept 21-24. It's in Pleasant Grove, UT at the Recreation Center!

In other news, fall is coming! And that means fall decorations. I've got a couple things stowed away for Halloween and something I'm working on for Thanksgiving and I can't wait to share. Along with the decorations I love to break out the apple cider and hot chocolate.

What do you love about fall?

I needed a hobby, that's how this whole project got started.

When you get home from work what do you do with your free time? Some people spend hours watching television in the evenings, others play video games or run errands. Personally, I read. And when I say I read I'm talking an average of a book every 2-3 days. That's excellent, right? Reading helps with vocabulary and it stimulates imagination, etc. However, that's all I did in my free time. You think I'm kidding? I read seven books from September 1 to September 7. THAT'S A BOOK A DAY! I decided I needed a change. I needed to be more productive with my time, I needed a HOBBY!

Does this mean I'll stop reading? Of course not, but I will vary what I choose to do with my time. Thus Wooden Parlor was born, a much needed creative outlet. Last year around this time, with the help of a friend I made some birthday boards, soon to be Christmas gifts for some of my family members. Over the course of a year multiple people have commented on these, so much so that I thought, "hey I could make those for people." Why not? I've got time.

Introducing the Birthday Board:

I made this one a little less than a year ago for my mom.
Here's one I made a couple days ago.

Interested in your very own birthday board or want to give one as a gift? Check out www.woodenparlor.com for pricing and details.

I've got a few other ideas up my sleeve for other wooden decor items I want to make and I'll be posting about those soon. In the meantime, any requests? I'll be happy to try my hand at just about anything.
